Chapter 12 Vlogs

     In chapter 12 topic that I found interesting is the section about vlogs. A vlog is a blog in video format that involves a vlogger, someone who is talking to the camera and sharing their everyday activities. In the book, it says that vlogs were first introduced in the early 2000s but boosted in popularity when YouTube was launched in 2005.   

    Today vlogs are one of the most popular types of video content. One reason that it is so popular is that the viewers get an in-depth look into another person's life. Another reason that they have become popular is due to social media. Social media have made it easier for creators to put out their vlogs and for others to see them. 

    With the popularity of vlogs, many brands have taken advantage of the popularity of them by partnering with well-known vloggers. These vloggers may promote or talk about a brand and their products which can be seen by a variety of audiences. This is often a good strategy for brands to use influencers to help market their brand instead of only using ads. 

    When reading about the topic of vlogs a lot of it hit home for me. Growing up I watched lots of vlogs from a variety of different influencers. What used to attract me to vlogs was watching others show insights into their lives. Many times the people would show both the ups and downs of their lives which led me and many others to keep tuning in. People find it attractive to see others in different parts of life and to watch them grow throughout the videos. Another way that vloggers would attract viewers is by displaying a certain lifestyle to the world. You can find vloggers showing behind the scenes of their flashy lifestyle which is also entertaining to many.

    I grew up watching a lot of vloggers when I was younger whether it be friends goofing around or someone detailing their experience in a certain situation. I think vloggers are the predecessors to the modern day influencer because before long form content was implemented into mobile social media apps, people would watch vloggers on youtube and gain inspiration on how to live their life.

    I have been watching vlogs on YouTube ever since I gained access to social media and a phone. To this day, I almost always put on a quick vlog while eating a meal, heading to sleep, or on a short car ride. It’s interesting to see how different people go about their day based on their lifestyles. Additionally, watching how they live their lives allows me to pick up on various things they do that I can add into my own life to make it even better!

Bye Week

     Going into last Saturday's matchup against Heidelberg, we knew how much this game meant not only because it was Senior Day, but because we were coming off a tough loss the week before. The feeling all week in practice was that we had something to prove. We wanted to show everyone what Ohio Northern football really is.      From the first snap, there was a different energy on the field. Our defense was able to set the tone early, flying around and making big stops, and the offense fed off that momentum. We executed the game plan the way we knew we could, hitting some big plays and running the ball well. Week 5

     Last Saturday’s game at Wilmington was a reminder of what we already knew about playing in the OAC: there are no easy wins. We came away with the victory, but it was a much tighter game than we expected, 41-35. Credit to Wilmington; they played with a lot of fight and pushed us for the four full quarters. Even though we weren’t as sharp as we wanted to be in certain areas, we stayed together as a team, made plays when needed, and found a way to finish strong.      Games like that are humbling in the best way. They show us that no matter who the opponent is, we can’t take anything for granted. We have to bring our best every single week.
