Chance To Make History

This past Saturday resulted in a close 42-41 win against Capital University. We felt we should've played a lot better in this game, but we were able to sneak out with the win. The game started off and Capital was able to capitalize on our mistakes and take a quick 14-0 lead which caught us by surprise. We were not playing to our standards and not executing our game plan the way we should've. We struggled in the first half and would go into halftime down 27-21. Coming out of halftime we would begin to pick things up. Our offense started to get going and our defense started to make fewer mistakes. We would keep battling back and forth and would go on a drive with less than 4 minutes left to take the lead. Capital had the ball with 2 minutes left and on 3rd down we were able to get an interception to seal the game. Even though it was a closer game than we wanted we were happy to sneak out of Bexley with a win.

This upcoming week is a big challenge for us and one that gives us the chance to make history. Saturday we play Mount Union. Currently, Mount Union is ranked the #3 team in the country and is on a 70-game regular season win streak. This is the longest active regular-season streak across all divisions of football. We also have not beaten them since 2005. This sets up a chance for us to make history and end their streak at home on Saturday.

We know that this will not be an easy task and that we will need to prepare well and execute our game plan. Mount Union is a very well-coached and talented team that can and will take advantage of mistakes. This means that to win we need to play a clean game and make as little as mistakes as possible. We feel that our coaches have set a good game plan for us and that it is up to us to work hard this week at practice to get it down and ultimately execute on Saturday.
