Live Tweeting

For our live tweeting assignment, we were tasked with live tweeting a homecoming event. I have used X before and use it frequently, but I have never live-tweeted an event. Looking at the homecoming events I was trying to decide which one to do because many I could not due to having our football game on Saturday. Looking again at the events I saw that the women's volleyball team had a game on Friday and decided that would be the event I would do.

After choosing that this would be the event I would do, I was excited to attend the match. I have been to one or two games here at ONU but it has been a while. I find the volleyball games here pretty exciting especially when going with friends and cheering the team on. I made sure after selecting this event to give a 24-hour notice on my Twitter that I would be live tweeting the event. Then the day of about 30 minutes before the start of the game I tweeted out that I would start live tweeting at the 7:30 start time of the game.

The game then started and ONU would start off strong winning the first set 25-11. This was a dominating set and a confidence boost for the team. In the second set they lost a tough set but would come back in the third set winning by a large margin 25-12. With ONU being up 2-1 they would then go on to finish the match by winning the 4th set. This was a pretty dominant win by the ONU women's volleyball team and I enjoyed being there and getting to live tweet the event. Live tweeting was a new but fun experience and I enjoyed learning the ins and outs of X.

  1. Hey Gage! The volleyball game was a great choice to get your live tweeting assignment done. I was also there but I had to work concessions. I was sill able to get a glimpse of the win from the polar bears but it definitely wasn't as good as the view you probably had. I'm glad you were able to get your assignment done and try out live tweeting at an exciting event!

  2. It’s great that you chose the volleyball game for live-tweeting! I’ve found live-tweeting adds a new layer of excitement to events, especially when you're fully engaged in the moment as well. When I was trying to balance enjoying my event with real-time updates it was definitely a unique challenge, but it sounds like you nailed it with your timely posts!

  4. It sounds like it was an amazing game! I completely agree, it's always great to support other sports teams on campus. I'm proud to hear that both the volleyball and football teams had a successful weekend. I can’t wait to catch a game soon!
