Week 7

This past Saturday was a big one for us. We traveled down to Muskingum and came home with a statement win, 54-16, against a team that had gotten the better of us last season. That loss stuck with us all offseason, and this was definitely one of those games we had circled. Over the past few years, our matchups with Muskingum have developed into a bit of a rivalry, and we wanted to prove something this time around.

Right from the opening kickoff, we set the tone. Our special teams came out aggressively, pulling off a huge onside kick to start the game and stealing a possession early. That play gave us a ton of momentum, and our offense wasted no time capitalizing. From that point on, we controlled the pace on both sides of the ball. The offense stayed hot, finding rhythm and moving the ball consistently, while the defense made big stops and forced turnovers that helped us extend the lead.

Everything clicked the way we envisioned it all week in practice. The energy on the sideline was electric, and every phase of the game contributed to the win. Walking off the field after a 54-16 victory, it was a great feeling, especially since it was their homecoming. It was another statement win that showed how much we’ve grown as a team and how well we’re executing in conference play.

But as great as that win felt, our attention now turns to the next challenge, Capital University. We host them this Saturday, and we all remember how last year’s game went. It came down to the wire in a 42-41 nailbiter that was closer than it should’ve been. That experience taught us a lesson in the OAC: you can’t take anyone lightly. Capital has shown this season that they can hang with good teams, and we know they’ll come in hungry for a win.

For us, it’s about keeping the same focus and intensity. We know what we’re capable of when we start fast and play together. Saturday is another chance to defend our home field and keep proving ourselves in this conference.
