Week 11

Saturday was a huge day for our team and our program. Hosting #22 Baldwin Wallace at home, we knew exactly what was at stake. A win would keep our playoff hopes alive and show that we are one of the top teams in the conference. From the moment we took the field, the energy was different.

We started the game with the ball and came out strong, driving down the field and scoring on our opening possession. That early touchdown set the tone, but Baldwin Wallace responded immediately with a kickoff return touchdown that swung the momentum right back their way. From there, it turned into a battle. Both teams traded punches through the first half, and Baldwin Wallace took a 21-17 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, they struck first again, extending their lead to 11. It was a tough spot, but we had been there before. Just a week earlier, we had come back from the same situation, and we knew if we stayed together and kept playing our game, we could do it again.

Our offense answered with a big drive to get back on the board, and our defense stepped up when we needed it most. Stop by stop, the momentum started to shift. A huge field goal late in the fourth quarter put us ahead 30-28, but Baldwin Wallace still had time left on the clock. That’s when our defense made the play of the day, a massive sack that led to a fumble recovery to seal the win.

The energy on the sideline and in the stands was unreal. Beating a ranked opponent at home for the first time in years was an incredible feeling and a true testament to how far this team has come. It was a statement win and one that keeps our postseason dreams alive.

Now, our focus turns to Otterbein. They’ve had a tough year, but we know better than to overlook anyone in the OAC. If we want to keep this momentum going, we have to come out fast, stay focused, and finish strong.

A win on Saturday is needed to keep those playoff hopes alive. We’ll find out Sunday if we’ve earned a playoff bid, but first, we have a job to finish.

Go Bears.
