Setback For A Major Comeback

This past Saturday we traveled to Marietta to take on their football team. This was a huge game for us as it was our first big challenge of the season. The game was also played between two unbeaten teams so we were looking to stay undefeated and hand Marietta their first loss. It was also a big game to show the other teams where we were stacked against them in the conference.

Going into the game we were faced with some setbacks. Our starting quarterback was hurt, so we would have to start a freshman quarterback. He is talented and a good quarterback but starting a new quarterback going into this game would be a tough task. Marietta is a very talented and also experienced team. We still felt confident in our game plan going into it and looked to execute it and come out with a big win.

The game started competitively with us both stopping each other on the first few drives. We then would make a mistake on special teams and give them favorable field position. They then scored and it would go downhill from here. It was hard for us to get any offense going as they had a good defensive gameplan to stop us. Marietta was able to capitalize on this make plays and ultimately win the game 45-10.

Our next game is this Saturday against Muskingum University. Muskingum is a team that over the past few years we have built a little rivalry with. We have beaten them the past few years but they are a chippy team who feel that they have something to prove. We all want to prove that last week is behind us and that we are still one of the better teams in the conference. Last week was just a setback for a major comeback.

  1. Unfortunate in taking your first loss in what sounds like a otherwise great season! I love the energy as you do not see it as just a setback, but sets the stage for a major comeback! Good luck with the rest of the season and especially this week vs Muskingum!
