Week 6
This past Saturday was one we won’t forget for a long time. Marietta was a game we had circled from the start of the season. They’ve been one of the top programs in the OAC over the past few years, and we knew this matchup would be a real test of where we stand as a team.
All week long, we felt locked in. Practices were sharp, the energy was high, and we went into the game confident in the game plan our coaches had laid out. Once kickoff came, it didn’t take long to feel the momentum shift our way. Early in the first quarter, our defense came up with a huge interception that completely set the tone for the game. You could feel the sideline erupt, and from that moment on, the energy only grew stronger.
Being at Homecoming made it even more special. The crowd was packed, loud, and behind us every step of the way. That atmosphere gave us the extra spark we needed. The offense was able to feed off that energy and put points on the board, while our defense continued to come up with stop after stop. It felt like every unit was clicking together, and the confidence just kept building. By the final whistle, it was clear we had made a statement, not just to ourselves, but to the rest of the conference. Beating a team like Marietta in front of our homecoming crowd was an incredible experience.
But as great as that win felt, we know there’s no time to dwell on it. The OAC doesn’t give you any weeks off, and now our attention turns to Muskingum. This is another game we’ve had circled, and for good reason. They’ve beaten us three out of the last five times we’ve played, and the past few meetings have carried some tension. It’s a rivalry feel at this point, and we know they are excited for this game as well.
For us, it’s about channeling the energy from last week and carrying it into Saturday. We know what we’re capable of when we play to our standard. This game means a lot to our team, and we’re excited for the chance to go on the road and compete at our best.
