Week 8

Saturday was one of those games where everything just seemed to click. We came out confident against Capital, and from the very first drive, we played our brand of football. After last year’s close matchup that came down to the wire, this time we wanted to leave no doubt, and we did exactly that with a 56-0 shutout win.

Getting ahead early was huge for us. The offense came out firing, setting the tone with quick scores, while the defense completely locked things down from start to finish. Pitching a shutout is hard to do at any level, and to do it in a conference game says a lot about the focus and effort from everyone on the field. The energy on the sidelines was incredible all game long. We executed, we stayed disciplined, and we never took our foot off the gas.

But as satisfying as that win was, we know we can’t spend too much time celebrating it. Our focus immediately shifted to this week and to one of the biggest games in recent program history. On Saturday, we travel to Alliance to take on Mount Union, the No. 2 team in the country and the current leader in the OAC.

We’re 5-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play for the first time since 1982, and we know what kind of opportunity this game presents. The last time Ohio Northern beat Mount Union was in 2005, and we’re hungry to change that. We respect who they are as a program, but we know what we are capable of, and we look to prove that.

This week is about preparation, focus, and belief. We’ve been playing good football, and now it’s about taking that to another level. We know the challenge that comes with facing a team like Mount Union, but we also know what we’re capable of when we play together and execute our game plan.

You can already feel the energy building for Saturday. We’re excited for the opportunity, ready for the challenge, and motivated to make history.
